I’ve been sworn to secrecy on a powerful event that took place on the last day of the seminar. However, I can tell you one thing: Harv taught me a very relevant and insightful lesson that day.
Hesitation is painful.
Making decisions is something that rich people are apparently very good at. It’s something that [good] leaders are very good at. The ability to make decisions can save your life.
Harv pointed out that when you hesitate to make a decision, or you put it off until a later date, the situation becomes unbearable. In the case of the exercise, making slow progress was reportedly far more painful than making a quick decision.
I’d felt it earlier, when deciding at the desk whether to sign up for Quantum Leap. My head was telling me I’d never raise the money, while my heart (or what I thought was my heart) was encouraging me to answer the challenge. I literally became paralysed, not helped by a pushy and irritating staff member.
How many times have you put off making a decision on something important, only to find that it cost you later?
Perhaps you put off asking that girl out, and then found out she had started seeing someone else – and it’s a serious, committed relationship to boot.
Or perhaps you’ve put off saying something really important, and found you’ll never get that chance ever again.
It could be something as small as waiting for everybody to take their slice of cake before you go for yours… except someone has helped themselves to your slice as well.
I was taught the importance of making a decision, and making decisions quickly. Like having any kind of confidence, the ability to make decisions is something you have to train yourself to do – but thankfully it’s a lot faster and easier. Making decisions means taking control of your life, which is why it’s so important.
As Charles “Tremendous” Jones is credited for saying:
We aren’t born to make right or wrong decisions; we are born to make decisions, then make them right.
Harv really does change lives, doesn’t he? He inspired me so much that I wrote http://www.PeakPotentialsForum.com
