Croque Monsieur

Late to work this morning, I decided to give this French snack a try. I’d heard of croque monsieur before, and to my untrained eye it looked like simple cheese on toast in the display.
It was AWFUL! From the moment I bit into the soft-feeling cheese and ham sandwich, I was greeted with an unhealthy amount of creamy stuff. I later learned it must have been béchamel sauce.
Thinking about it now, I realise the importance of trying something unusual, instead of going for the same old thing and having preconceived notions of everything else.
It won’t always be a pleasant experience, but usually it will make a good short story. Like this one.
